The Watsons are going on a road trip. And the audacious 10-year-old Kenny will be your guide, as he, Dad, Momma, kid sister Joetta and older brother Byron pile in the Brown Bomber and head south, from Michigan. Why? Byron's nearly official juvenile delinquent status needs attention from the blunt, don't-mess-with-her Grandma Sands. But it's 1963 during the Civil Rights Movement, and the Watsons are heading straight into the heart of racial turmoil.
This is the powerful story of a funny, warm, off-the-wall family who find themselves facing more than they bargained for. It's not often you can laugh aloud in the midst of crises - big and little. But if any family can make you do it, it's the Watsons.
