Auditions

Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the leading theatre for multigenerational audiences in the nation, is currently seeking two African American Performing Apprentices for our upcoming and highly anticipated 2017-2018 Season, which will feature multiple musicals.

As Performing Apprentices at CTC, these young artists are given the opportunity to prepare for the beginning of their professional career as performers in a professional setting.  Apprentices act in lead roles, ensemble roles, understudy, and participate in readings and workshops of new works.  They also have the unique opportunity to perform on our stages alongside our Resident Company members, student actors, as well as locally, nationally and internationally renowned guest artists.

CTC’s 51st 2017-2018 Season will be featuring multiple world premieres, national and international partnerships and large-scale musicals. CTC operates out of its three theatre complex with a 746-seat proscenium theater, a 299-seat reconfigurable theater and a 100-seat teaching theater.  It is also one of the few theatre companies in the country to have a Resident Equity Acting Company and a resident composer.

General Information

Auditions for youths (student actors) between the ages of 8 and 18 are held at various times during the year depending on the needs of each production. Typically, we hold auditions anywhere from 6-9 months in advance of the production’s first rehearsal. Our auditions for student actors are usually group-style format. Each audition notice will detail the specifics of who we are looking for, what the actor will do (e.g. sing, dance, monologues, etc.) and how to schedule an audition. All auditions are by appointment only. The student actor positions are unpaid.

Auditions for adult Equity and non-Equity actors are held periodically throughout the year. Preparation is needed and based on the specific needs of each production. Adult actor positions are paid.

All auditions are listed here and on MinnesotaPlaylist.com.

CTC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We advocate for diversity throughout the organization and strongly encourage applications from members of traditionally underrepresented groups.
