Spring 2010 Class Schedule
April 12 - May 23, 2010

Ages 2 & 3
Skill Focus – Exploring the arts through music,
movement, visual arts and dramatic play, and
fostering creativity and imagination. Each class
session focuses on a different theme such as
shapes, animals, the body and more. Multisensory
play promotes a child’s development of social and
motor skills and strengthens the bond between
caregiver and child. |

Ages 3 & 4
Skill Focus – Exploring the arts through music,

Skill Focus – Exploring the arts through music,

Grades K & 1
Skill Focus – Focusing on the essentials of storytelling;
combining disciplines (drama /movement or
drama / music); techniques of improvisation; and
story sequencing. Classes will stimulate increased
focus and concentration and will improve listening
skills , group participation and expression through
vocal and physical exploration. |

Grades 2 & 3
Skill Focus – Classes will work toward building/encouraging
poise, motivation and confidence in a
group and will look to explore patterns of characterization
through improvisation and memorization.
Additional focus: Setting goals for self and
acquiring greater sensitivity to and respect for
others: as well as teamwork, self-confidence, and
active listening (acting basics, create a character,
musical theatre improv, drama and dance, drama
and voice) . |

Grades 4 & 5
Skill Focus – Learn to make informed choices
through a growing appreciation of history and
culture. Perform with greater precision and growing
emphasis on creative interpretation with a
continued focus on teamwork, self-confidence
and active listening. |

Grades 6-8
Skill Focus – Learn to maintain freedom of expression
and exercise the imagination while developing
a sense of personal identity. Includes thinking
outside the box, responding with creative problem
solving and articulating feelings, thoughts and
ideas. Students will refine awareness of and employ
good vocal and physical habits, expand awareness
of rhythm, tempo and pacing while responding to
symbolism and imagery in scripted work (teamwork,
self-confidence, active listening). |

Grades 9-12
Skill Focus – Reaching toward new levels of awareness,
strengthening the ability to evaluate self
and peers, building critical and abstract thought
processes in relation to performance, and building
self-reliance and confidence in their personal
potential through a more objective world view. |

Other
Creative Storytelling for Adults: – Never thought you
could do this stuff?! Feel like you have lost your imagination?
This class is designed, using the approach of our creative
storytelling classes, for parents, educators, grandparents
and others who are interested in reconnecting to
their imaginations and interested in learning ways to engage
in the creative process with the children in their lives.
This class concludes with the sharing of our work with an
audience of loved ones. |
