3. AUDITIONS FOR YOUTH ACTORS
For our Fall production of Dr. Seuss’ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
Directed by Peter C. Brosius
First rehearsal: August 5, 2010
Tech: September 1-10, 2010
Run dates: September 7, 2010 – October 30, 2010
We are looking for boys and girls, 10-18 years old. (Young actors must not be older than a senior in high school for next school year, 2010-2011.)
We will be casting up to 12 boys and girls for this show.
Please be aware this production is a musical; the set has several levels raked at different angles.
INITIAL AUDITIONS

Youth actors will sing, dance and do some improv or cold reading at these auditions

PREPARE
No special preparation required
We will teach a song – be prepared to sing in a group and solo in front of that group
We will teach a dance combination – be dressed for movement
BRING
Wear clothes you can move easily in – no open-toed shoes or sandals
If you have a resume, you’re welcome to bring it, but it is not expected nor required
No need to bring a headshot or other photo: we will take a picture of you when you come to audition

General Audition Information
Auditions for student actors between the ages of 8 and 18 are held at various times during the year depending on the needs of each production. The auditions take the form of sample classes, allowing groups of students to act, sing, dance, and interact. No preparation is needed and students need to dress comfortably for movement. The student actor positions are unpaid.
Auditions for adult Equity and non-Equity actors are held periodically throughout the year. Preparation is needed and based on the specific needs of each production. Adult actor positions are paid. All auditions are listed in the
Minneapolis Star Tribune in Section 550 and in the
St. Paul Pioneer Press in Section 20.
Students between the ages of 8 and 18 may audition to enroll in the Theatre Arts Training classes. Auditions are held for Fall, Winter, and Summer Sessions. Call 612.879.5685 or visit the
