Once again Blue Cross and The Children's Theatre Company Partner for PAY WHAT YOU CAN

For Immediate Release: August 3, 2001

Minneapolis, MN - The Children's Theatre Company (CTC) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) proudly announce their continuing collaboration in support of the enormously popular PAY WHAT YOU CAN program. The first of its kind in the Twin Cities, the program is designed to make theater available to families for whom ticket prices have previously been a barrier. One additional performance night has been set aside for each of CTC's six mainstage productions. Customers will elect to pay what they can for tickets, with a suggested $1 minimum.

"We are so happy to continue our partnership with Blue Cross for this program," said Peter C. Brosius, CTC's artistic director. "Their commitment to PWYC will allow thousands of Minnesota families to share in the magic and power of theater."

Since its launch in 1998, more than 14,000 families have participated in PWYC. This year, the program will also extend beyond the Twin Cities. Families and students in Greater Minnesota communities, including St. Cloud and Cloquet, will have the opportunity to attend a PAY WHAT YOU CAN performance of Grimm Tales, CTC's 16th annual midwest tour.

"We are excited to once again help bring high quality theatre to families throughout Minnesota," said Mark W. Banks, M.D., president and CEO of Blue Cross. "To stimulate children's minds, to expand their horizons and help them enjoy a healthier quality of life, is truly rewarding."

Reservations are accepted one week prior to each performance date on a first-come-first-served basis. It is requested that each family not exceed eight tickets per season. PAY WHAT YOU CAN tickets can be reserved by phone at 612-874-0400 or in person at The Children's Theatre Company Ticket Office. Tickets typically sell out within hours of going on sale.
