MEDIA ALERT / PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Kids & Costumed Characters Captivate the Capitol: Pippi, The Grinch and the White Rabbit journey to the Capitol in support of CTC

WHO:
Supporters of The Children’s Theatre Company, (the nation’s leading theater for young people and families), including students on spring break, parents, actors, teachers and subscribers.
WHAT:
As decisions are imminent regarding state bonding authority, supporters of The Children’s Theatre Company want to have their voices heard. Adults, children and costumed characters will join in an effort to convince legislators that CTC deserves state bonding authority.
From community building in Twin Cities neighborhoods, to touring Greater Minnesota annually for the last 16 years, to teaching critical literacy through weekly, year-long programs in inner city schools, education is at the core of CTC’s mission - just as it is at the core of the mission of the state of Minnesota.
The Children’s Theatre Company has exceeded original projections of participation by 300%. In order to meet the demands of the community, it must expand by building new classrooms and rehearsal spaces, as well as a 300-seat theater that will serve teens and preschoolers - audiences not now served by CTC.
CTC’s project cost is $24 million. CTC has suggested an equal private-public partnership for funding. $9 million has been raised privately to date. Now, it’s up to the legislature.
