Kids and Parents Come Together to Share An Evening of Theatre and Art - CTC Hosts the Fifth Annual Whittier School Family Night

WHO:
The Children’s Theatre Company, the nation’s leading theater for young people and families.
WHAT:
CTC will host the 5th Annual Whittier Family Night. Students from Whittier Community School for the Arts and their parents are invited to attend a free performance of CTC’s world premiere The Snow Queen.
The Whittier Community School for the Arts students, who have already attended a school matinee as well as participated in CTC’s in-class workshops, create artwork surrounding the themes of the show. This artwork is displayed in the Red Lobby prior to the performance, enabling the students to serve as pathfinders to the theatre for their families, friends, and the community.
On this evening, the Red Lobby will open at 6:00 p.m. for students, families, friends to view the displays, participate in activities for the kids, listen to live music from the show, and interact with some of the characters from The Snow Queen.
The Snow Queen is a world premiere production developed at CTC over the last two years. The script, lyrics, and music were written by local artist Ruth MacKenzie, who also plays the title role of the Snow Queen. This production was co-directed by CTC’s Artistic Director Peter Brosius and Michael Sommers, who also designed the scenery and puppets. The show features choreography by Joe Chvala and a live orchestra led by Dick Hensold.
