CTC's SNOWFLAKE sets sights on 24 cities in seven states - 2002-2003 Regional Tour takes off
For Immediate Release: September 19, 2002
WHO:
The Children's Theatre Company, the nation's leading theater for young people and families.
WHAT:
For the 17th consecutive year, The Children's Theatre Company will demonstrate its commitment to all of the communities in Minnesota, as well as the region, with a touring production of "Snowflake." The 2002 production will be staged 56 times in 24 cities in seven Midwest states over three months. Many tour stops include a public performance and matinee performances for students, and are often accompanied by workshops for schools and the community.
Beginning in Glenwood, Minnesota on September 23 and finishing in Virginia, Minnesota on December 17, the performer and tour staff will live out of their suitcases as they criss-cross the Midwest. The tour staff's suitcases are not the only things that need to travel for this production. While a passenger van transports the crew, a large 26-foot truck will house the many set pieces, lighting equipment, costumes, and two crates of props. The set is designed to be quickly and easily taken apart and assembled at each venue. Typically, the crew has four to five hours in which to assemble and take down the set. In order to accomplish this in the tight time period required, each venue provides eight to ten volunteers to assist CTC crew with the task.
Once again CTC has teamed up with Concordia University of St. Paul to run tech rehearsals in the E.M. Pearson Theatre. Having the touring company at Concordia's E.M. Pearson Theatre, conveniently located just off of I-94 and Hamline Avenue in St. Paul, means it is possible to offer a special matinee performance of "Snowflake" for students of St. Paul's World Cultures school to see. The E.M. Pearson Theatre is located on the Concordia University campus at 312 Hamline Avenue North in St. Paul.
WHEN:
September 23, 2002 through December 17, 2002
WHERE:
Various locations throughout Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Dakota.
