CTC Cancels First Two Preview Performances of The Wizard of Oz Due to Mechanical Problems -- Replacement Performances Added, Three Additional Performances Added Due to Demand
For Immediate Release: November 18, 2002
WHO:
The Children's Theatre Company, the nation's leading theater for young people and families.
WHAT:
The first two preview performances of CTC's holiday production, The Wizard of Oz have been cancelled due to mechanical problems. Both performances have been replaced later in the run and theater staff are currently calling all patrons to reschedule.
The technical rehearsals slowed when the 32' hydraulic turntable, central to the set, stopped working. Locating, securing and replacing the motor also took needed time from technical and dress rehearsal time. The cancellation of the first two preview performances was necessitated by CTC's commitment to ensuring the safety of all company and crew members as well as its commitment to giving the cast, crew and production team the time needed to create an artistically and technically spectacular show for the audience.
Additionally, due to overwhelming popularity (prior to Christmas, most performances of The Wizard of Oz are virtually sold out), three additional performances have been added.
