Select Comfort and The Children's Theatre Company Partner for Pay What You Can Program
For Immediate Release: September 3, 2004
Minneapolis, MN – The Children's Theatre Company (CTC) and Select Comfort Corporation announced today their collaboration in support of CTC's Pay What You Can program during the 2004-2005 season.
"We are so proud to be collaborating with Select Comfort in support of PAY WHAT YOU CAN. By removing the economic barriers associated with purchasing tickets, Select Comfort will help introduce thousands of young people and their families to new worlds and avenues of self-discovery," said Peter C. Brosius, CTC's artistic director.
Now in its eighth year, the program – which was the first of its kind in the Twin Cities – makes theater available to families for whom ticket prices are a barrier. One additional performance night has been scheduled for each of CTC's six main stage productions. On those nights, customers may elect to pay what they can for tickets, with a suggested $1 minimum.
"By partnering with The Children's Theatre Company, Select Comfort hopes to keep the arts accessible to everyone in the Twin Cities, especially children," said Noel Schenker, senior vice president of marketing and new business development at Select Comfort. "Our goal is to make dreams come true both day and night."
Reservations are accepted beginning at 10:00 a.m. one week before each Pay What You Can performance date on a first-come, first-served basis, with a minimum of six tickets per order. Pay What You Can tickets can be reserved by phone at 612-874-0400 or in person at The Children's Theatre Company Ticket Office. Tickets typically sell out within hours of going on sale.
The new Select Comfort/CTC collaboration will extend to The Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities, enhancing Select Comfort's long-term relationship with them. Benefits to Ronald MacDonald House guests include complimentary tickets to CTC productions, performances at Ronald McDonald House by The Children's Theatre Company Story Telling group, and a field trip this fall for a backstage tour of CTC prior to attending a show. As the "Official Bed Provider" for Ronald McDonald House Charities®, Select Comfort has donated more than 130 SLEEP NUMBER® beds to the local charity.
