CTC's Around Series Going Beyond the Stage and Into Our World

Minneapolis, MN – The Children's Theatre Company is delighted to continue the tremendously popular Around Series during the 2004/2005 season. This year, the Around Series will consist of dozens of events and activities that correlate to each of the mainstage productions. The goal is to not only enhance the audiences' play-going experience, but also heighten young people's awareness of the world they live in through related, often interactive activities.
"The experience of going to the theatre is not just about watching what happens on the stage. We want young people and their families to see, touch, taste and feel even more of the extraordinary worlds associated with each production," said Peter C. Brosius, CTC artistic director. "We try to offer a little bit of everything – dance, storytelling, music, crafts, art, films, language, food – to give our audience a deeper knowledge about the world of the play and how that world is connected to the one in which we all live. It is so rewarding to watch the young people participate in these activities and walk away with a broader understanding of themselves and the world they live in."
This year the Around Series will have several events and/or activities associated with every mainstage production. Whenever possible, the events are free, open to the public as well as ticket holders, and most will take place in CTC's red lobby. The Around Series is supported in part by a grant from The Wallace Foundation through its Leadership and Excellence in Arts Participation Program.
The following events have been planned for the six productions of the 2004/2005 season. More events will be announced as they are confirmed. Please see the Onstage section of the website for the full schedule.
