The Snail with the mail delivers a holiday book treat: Broadway Musicals: The 101 Greatest Musicals of All Time

Frank Vlastnik, currently performing at The Children's Theatre Company (CTC) as the show-stopping Snail in CTC's production of A Year with Frog and Toad has moved from researcher to writer in creating books about the American Theater.
WHAT:
Frank Vlastnik and Ken Bloom have collaborated to produce a lively and visually rich chronicle of American musicals entitled Broadway Musicals: The 101 Greatest Musicals of All Time. The 330-page coffee table book includes 850 photos culled from private collections and previously un-catalogued material belonging to the Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts. With an introduction by stage and television star Jerry Orbach, the book's expert commentary sets the productions in historical and cultural context and provides an unparalleled overview of the Broadway musical from its roots in the 19th-century operetta through the golden era of the book musical, to its present-day technical wizardry and diversity of style and musical idiom.
A Year with Frog and Toad had its world premiere at The Children's Theatre Company in the fall of 2002 after which it traveled to the New Victory Theater in New York City. In April of 2003, A Year with Frog and Toad opened on Broadway at the Cort Theatre where it was nominated for three Tony® Awards including Best New Musical.
