"Do whatever you feel, Troy. There are no wrong answers. Remember, you're only limited by your own imagination." -Mrs. Darbus, Disney's High School Musical

For Immediate Release: June 8, 2007

Disney's High School Musical WHO:
The Children's Theatre Company (CTC), the nation's leading theatre for young people and families and recipient of the 2003 Tony® Award for Outstanding Regional Theater.

WHAT:
This could be the start of something new... (again). CTC brings back the smash success production of Disney's High School Musical to their mainstage.

Disney's High School Musical has a book by David Simpatico; songs by Matthew Gerrard, Robbie Nevil, Ray Cham, Greg Cham, Andrew Seeley, Randy Petersen, Kevin Quinn, Andy Dodd, Adam Watts, Bryan Louiselle, David N. Lawrence, Faye Greenberg and Jamie Houston; music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle; and is based on a Disney Channel Original Movie written by Peter Barsocchini.

The entire original, theatrical creative team returns to transfer DHSM to the mainstage including director Peter Rothstein, costume designer Rich Hamson, lighting designer Geoff Korf, music director John Lynn, sound designer Andrew Mayer, and stage manager Danae Schniepp.

"We felt fortunate to be able to stage the first theatrical version of this cultural phenomenon with a fantastic creative team and one of the hardest working casts in America - all from Minnesota," says Peter Brosius, CTC artistic director. "And now we get to do it again on the main stage." 12 new actors will join 24 original cast members to make up the company.

Disney's High School Musical revolves around Troy Bolton, the popular captain of the basketball team and Gabriella Montez, the brainy and beautiful member of the academic club. They break all the rules of the East High society when they secretly audition for the leads in the school's musical. As they reach for the stars and follow their dreams, everyone learns about acceptance, teamwork and being true to yourself.

Among the eleven roles with character names, returning actors include Benjamin Bakken as basketball star Troy Bolton, Katie Allen as the new kid in town Gabriella Montez, Isabella Dawis as Kelsi Neilson, Laura Otremba as Sharpay Evans, Ivory Doublette as Taylor McKessie, Risa Dorkin as Martha Cox, Jameson Pieper as Zeke Baylor, as well as Steve Sweere as Coach Bolton and Beth Gilleland as Mrs. Darbus, both reprising their roles. The two newcomers in lead roles include Nicholas Boyd as Troy Bolton's best friend Chad Dansforth and Cory Stewart as school D.J. Jack Scott. In total, the play has 24 original cast members and a dozen new cast members.
