The Children's Theatre Company announces Peter Rothstein to direct A Year with Frog and Toad - Single tickets on sale October 7

Peter Rothstein will direct The Children's Theatre Company's holiday production of A Year with Frog and Toad. Rothstein returns to CTC after directing the original sold out run of Disney's High School Musical last January and the successful remount this past summer. Michael Matthew Ferrell, who also worked on Disney's High School Musical, and CTC's cuurent production for teens on the Cargill Stage, Fashion 47, will join him as choreographer.
Rothstein, who founded Theater Latté Da in Minneapolis, is excited to direct CTC's holiday musical. "I saw the piece when it first premiered at CTC. I remember being truly charmed by it. It is such a simple yet profound expression of friendship. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to direct this jewel of a musical."
A Year with Frog and Toad is based on Arnold Lobel's Newbery and Caldecott Honor Books. This production will be based on David Petrarca's original direction with music by Robert Reale, book and lyrics by Willie Reale, music direction by Andrew Cooke, set design by Adrianne Lobel, costume design by 2002 Tony award winner Martin Pakledinaz, lighting design by James F.Ingalls, associate lighting design by Steve Terry, sound design by Rob Milburn and orchestration by Irwin Fisch.
In this season's production, Bradley Greenwald and Reed Sigmund will star as Frog and Toad. Dieter Bierbrauer, CTC company member Autumn Ness and CTC Performing apprentice Megan Jacoby will round out the five person cast.
The best of Amphibian friends, Frog and Toad, have their oh-so-glorious days as well as their not-so-good days, just like all best friends do. This delightful new musical follows their adventures through four fun-filled seasons collected from Arnold Lobel's classic, award-winning series of children's books. This CTC production was nominated for three Tony awards – Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical and Best Musical. This production will be a cup of Christmas cheer with a plate of holiday cookies.
