2010 • 2011 SEASON

Dr. Seuss’ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
(Sep. 7, 2010 – Oct. 30, 2010)
The perfect kickoff to our 45th anniversary season, and you’ll only see it here. Bartholomew Cubbins is having one of those days when things go from bad to worse – five hundred times. In a playful, surprise-packed tribute to Dr. Seuss’ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, our anniversary staging brings back an audience favorite first staged in 1979. If you’ve seen it before, you know the moment to watch for. If you haven’t, you’re in for a delightful tale filled with magical, musical madness and inspiring moments of courage. Produced with permission from the Dr. Seuss’ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins Foundation.

Robin Hood
(Sep. 28, 2010- Dec. 5, 2010)
Ivey Award-winning director Greg Banks (CTC’s Romeo & Juliet) goes medieval – with muscle. High-powered and action-packed, this is not your yeomanly tale of yore, but a lean, mean swordfight-fueled story of good vs. evil, trickery vs. heroism, compassion vs. greed. Blink and you’ll miss something: A sharp joke, a sly jab, a treacherous attack, a band of underground heroes rallying for those who cannot.

A Christmas Story
(Nov. 16, 2010- Dec. 31, 2010)
Everyone’s rooting for Ralphie – well, at least everyone in the audience. Onstage, his mom, dad, brother, neighborhood and even Santa seem to be standing between him and that Red Rider BB gun he so desperately wants. Based on the beloved film, this CTC debut production adds new twists to the class tale about a Midwestern working-class family celebrating the holidays the only way they know how, complete with drama, humor, and an incredibly tacky lamp.
Based on the motion picture A Christmas Story, 1983 Turner Entertainment Co., Distributed by Warner Brothers. Written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark and on the book In God We Trust: All others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd.

Babe, The Sheep Pig
(Jan. 11, 2011-Feb. 27, 2011)
Deep down, Babe just knows he’s a champion. All he has to do is convince the stoic Farmer, stay off the Farmer’s Wife’s dinner menu, and overcome a flock of seemingly insurmountable challenges – with the gentle help of his adopted mom, Fly. An epic tale of a little pig, with magical transformations that bring every quirky character from the beloved story to life; ba-ram-ewe’ll love it.

Barrio Grrrl!: A New Musical
(Mar. 2, 2011-Mar. 27, 2011)
Make your heart sing. Drawing strength from her music, her Latino culture, her family and her alter-ego Barrio Grrrl (and her equally tenacious invisible sidekick Amazing Voice), spunky nine-year-old Ana practically explodes off the stage, acting as her own hero in the face of incredible circumstances. A delicious coming-of-age pop musical bursting with color and energy, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Quiara Alegria Hudes (In the Heights); commissioned by and presented in partnership with the Kennedy Center.

Annie
(Apr. 12, 2011- Jun. 26, 2011)
It’s a hard-knock life for an orphan – until Daddy Warbucks sweeps her away. We’re closing the 45th anniversary season with the CTC PREMIERE OF THE TONY Award-winning Broadway musical blockbuster. Annie’s tale inspires children to never give up, and to never forget those less fortunate than them – because after all, the sun will come out, tomorrow. Directed by Peter Rothstein of Minneapolis’ own Theatre Latte Da, it’s sure to be the next great CTC classic.
