Building Bridges is a unique storytelling and critical literacy program, created by professional teaching artists at Children’s Theatre Company alongside early childhood specialists. Professional Teaching Artists partner with classroom teachers to deliver multiple sessions that include interactive storytelling, songs, chants, hands-on activities, and student acting!
Students work on age-appropriate and critically important skills, including listening comprehension, oral expressive language, and building capacity to visualize images, which assists in developing concrete understanding of new vocabulary, as well as developing fluency with words, which will assist as children move from readers to writers. Building Bridges offers age-appropriate, play-based and imagination-fueled learning experiences that align directly with state standards in theatre and language arts.
